ux designer

My focus on UX design emerged from my work as a designer working in a wide variety of media. I have designed books, put together short films, illustrated road-side posters and created Flash-based online games. This broad range of skills supports my UX work by providing me with a full awareness of the digital industry and enabling me to rapidly create mock-ups and prototypes.

Software proficiencies: Flash, InDesign, Axure, Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere, Dreamweaver, PowerPoint, QuickTime Player Pro

Coding proficiencies: ActionScript, HTML, CSS

See below for examples of my work.

Guiltometer – work timer app

[You need to get Flash Player to view this]

A simple work (or study) timer whose unique feature is a 'time balance'. Fail to achieve your target today and you'll create a time-deficit you'll have to make up for tomorrow. Exceed your target and you've created a time-surplus to enjoy later.

To use:
1. Set a target for today using the '+1hr' and '+10m' buttons.
2. Click the clock face when you start working.
3. Click it again when you stop working.
4. Check the balance to see how you're doing. A red balance shows you still have work to do. A green balance shows you've met or exceeded your target. The balance takes into account all your past targets and achievements, not just today's.

Additional features:
• If you forget to use Guiltometer you can use the '+1hr' and '+10m' buttons to manually update your 'achieved' hours.
• Use 'set future targets' to set weekly targets for the future. For example you can tel Guiltometer that, for the next 10 weeks, you'll aim to work 7 hours Monday to Friday, 2 hours on Saturdays and not at all on Sundays.
• If you forget to switch off the timer and accidentally add 10 'achieved' hours while you sleep, click 'undo last timer' to undo it.
• Angel faces mean you're doing well; devil faces mean you are descending into a pit of sloth and failure.

Ballistic Zone – game

An open-ended game for the Ballistic Zone Youth Club in Luton. The game was designed to be easily customizable so that it could be passed on to the youth club, allowing to create different scenarios and consequences. Made using Flash/ActionScript 2.0. International Co-operative Alliance – Flash site

A student project in which I redesigned the International Co-operative Alliance's website in Flash. The doves/rainbow concept is inspired by the existing International Co-operative Alliance logo.
